All over our planet, landscapes are continuously being shaped under the influence of natural processes. Some of which have large scale influences, others much more locally. From avalanches and floodings all the way down to a mouse digging its borrow, our landscapes are under constant change.
Humans are part of this battle of forces. Human influence increased hugely during the last centuries and has shaped our modern day landscapes. We’ll slowly replace the human by natural processes. By giving space for wild blown dunes, free flowing rivers, herbivory and predation, nature regains its own dynamic. And as a result it will surprise and amaze us again and again. When all natural processes are in balance, new mosaic wildernesses will appear. Past remnants will stay visible for hundreds of years, not as a dark shadow but as our cultural heritage.
