FREE Nature celebrates its first lustrum

19 – 06 – 2012

FREE Nature celebrated its fifth anniversary together with customers, suppliers and business relations at the 15th of June. Celebrations were held within the old castle of Loevestein, which is surrounded by a lovely reserve of riverine floodplains. After introductions by Chris Braat (director of FREE Nature), Gijs Kurstjens (Rijn in Beeld) and Hans Coppus (K3 Delta), all could get acquainted with each other and the rewilded herds of Rode Geus Bovines and Konik horses within the reserve.

As if the weather gods favored us, the steady rainfall stopped the moment we got out for a field excursion. For some this was a first introduction to this reserve, for others a renewed one. FREE Nature is delighted that so many people from different organizations are cooperating with us to work on rewilding within areas where both wild animals and people can feel at home. We want to thank everyone gratefully for the trust we receive, something we hope to continue into the coming years.

Later this month, a special FREE Nature wilderness barbeque will be held on and around the Naardermeer for all of our volunteers, whom without we could do our work.
